Noted as “excellent and game” by The New Yorker, EvanJohnson is an up-and-coming professional actor based in New York City working in film, television, and theater. He made his “strong Off-Broadway debut” (Backstage) in the world premiere of Thomas Bradshaw’s Burning at The New Group, directed by Scott Elliott.
He was more recently seen in the Off-Broadway production of Peter and the Starcatcher at New World Stages. Evan graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Acting from Marymount Manhattan College, and continues to build his resume with thoughtful work and challenging projects. Evan made his regional debut in Fall 2015 at Playmakers Theatre Repertory Company in Chapel Hill, North Carolina as Boy/Peter in Peter and the Starcatcher.
On stage, Evan has worked with directors including Roger Rees, Jess Chayes, Paul Lazar, Brendon Fox and Scott Elliott and performed Off-Broadway with The New Group and at New World Stages. He has created devised performance works with Chip Rodgers, including at Incubator Arts Project for their Short Form 2013 festival.
On camera, Evan can be seen in the independent feature Wildlife, Datebook and Olkwood web series, and various student film projects for University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Hofstra University, and New York Film Academy. His most recent project is a short film, “Heavy Metal” for The Bench Project .
